Fingertip4: Low-Power Marvell PXA Platform for Mobile Devices
At the size of a credit card, the Fingertip4 is one of the highest performance, lowest power consuming, complete solution for handheld device development available today. Created for OEM developers of embedded handheld and wireless devices who need a full-featured solution with advanced power management, Fingertip4 is based on Marvell’s PXA270 processor and delivers over 500MHz of processing power while consuming less than 0.5W of power. Fingertip4 incorporates the latest peripherals, including Compact Flash, SDIO, USB host, USB Client, multiple serial ports, and connects to a wide variety of LCD displays. A full-featured daughter card interface exposes the main system bus and allows developers to support additional standard and custom peripherals. Fingertip4’s sophisticated power interfaces include support for on-board Li-Ion battery charging and capacity management, with additional support for other batteries and separate power inputs for backup batteries and line voltage.
SECO USA’s BatterySmart dynamic power management software technology is tightly integrated with the Fingertip4 hardware, allowing developers to control both low- and high-level issues related to performance and power consumption. Fingertip4 with BatterySmart system software allows developers to create extremely small, robust, low-power handheld and wireless devices, including PDAs, smart phones, smart sensors, power over Ethernet devices, tablets, and wearable computers.
The Fingertip4 Development Platform starter kit provides the entry point for Fingertip4-based designs and comes with the hardware, software, and technical support that developers need to get their designs off the ground. The Development Platform includes support for multiple displays, GPS, Bluetooth, WiFi, Ethernet, and a variety of other peripherals. SECO USA’s product support tools provide all the components needed to take a product from concept to production including Development Platforms, 3D models and drawings, SDKs, BSPs, prototype packaging, and expert design consulting services.
SECO USA offers an off-the-shelf daughter card for the Fingertip4, called Fingerboard, for easy expandability. Click here for more on Fingerboard.
